Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie’s counter to Sherlock Holmes, used his “little gray cells” to solve murder mysteries. In psychology, we are trying to solve the mystery of the mind, how little gray cells work and why people act the way they do. We know a lot about human behavior but the real challenge is applying what we know to real life.
